The Hitachi 15 Amp 12 in. Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser Marker provides improved work efficiency with the compact slide system and wide base. A compact slide system with large cutting capacity features a fixed rail slide design that eliminates the need for rear clearance to accommodate the extension of the sliding rails. • Powerful 15 Amp motor to tackle tough cutting jobs with ease
  • Laser marker system from Hitachi increases cutting accuracy
  • Large sliding fences raise fence height to 5-1/8 inches to cut up to 7-1/2 in. crown molding vertically
  • 0 - 57 degree miter angle to the right and 0-45 degree to the left for flexibility
  • 0 - 45 degree bevel angle range to the right and left allowing users to quickly and easily flip the saw blade and leave the material in place
  • Positive stops and indications on the miter and bevel scale, for easy to read measurements and quick settings
  • Carbon brush access, allows the user to replace the brush as needed to greatly prolong tool life
  • Vertical handle with soft, vibration reducing elastomer grip adds comfort and control

Good Saw for DIY homeowner
Good saw for A DIY homeowner and close enough. Not the most accurate saw (off less than a degree and not the best backplate). I think it's good bang for the buck and will accomplish pretty much everything I will throw at it. As will most saws, not a great dust collection system.

Love this saw
The versatility of this saw is fantastic. However I have run across the same problem that I have seen posted by other users and that is the laser has begun to malfunction after only 1.5 years of home only use. The problem is the nearest repair is in another state and according to them they no longer work on power tool repair; and it will cost entirely too much to ship back to the corporation. I was told the warranty registration is only for recall purposes anyway.

Great saw, but bad stock blade.
A good saw overall. Received in a well packed box. A refurbished model looked good and runs. All parts were present and in working order. The only drawback was the basic blade that came with the saw. The first time I cut with it (regular pine 1” by wood), 2 of the carbide teeth broke off. Otherwise a real nice refurb saw at a good price.

No measurement marks on fences
Like most miter saws these days there are no measurement marks on the fences. My old cheap saw had inches and subdivisions recessed etched and painted black on the fences. They never wore off. Very useful for making small cuts without having to measure your piece before cutting. Sure, you can buy(addl expense) some stick-on ruler tape that will probably wear off/peel of with use and you better make sure you stick it on accurately. I'm sure the saw manufactures no longer provide the marked fences in order to save money. To me, this is a big drawback but they pretty much all do it. Otherwise, the saw seems OK.

Just a great saw
I was looking for a mitre saw to replace an old Mikita I had worn out. I was looking to purchase a Dewalt, but after looking and listening to carpenters, the Hitachi was recommended and the price was lower. I checked on-line for reviews and looked into other brands, and chose the new Hitachi 12" sliding compound mitre saw and so far after installed trim moulding in 2 rooms and building a kids outdoor playset, it works great. So far a good investment.

Alignment and damages issues
I purchased this today and will be bringing it back tomorrow. The base was damaged when I opened it. I could live with that but then I noticed the 0 degree alignment was off. Then I noticed the laser line did not match the cut line. There are no instructions on how to adjust it. This was my first Hitachi tool and it may be my last. I will be getting a different brand.

This is the first miter saw I’ve ever owned but it’s about the 5 I’ve ever used. So far I’m very happy with my choice. I like this better than the DeWalt DWS780 that I was using and I was happy to save the $170. The box it arrived in was super sturdy and it arrived in perfect shape. So far I’m only been cutting cedar fence boards and west coast pine 4x4s but so far so good. Tons of power and a nice laser cuts through the wood I’ve been working with like butter. I checked the cuts and it’s perfectly 90 so far. The laser is easy to adjust. It weighs about the same as the DeWalt but has a higher RPM with a similar 15 A motor..

Happy customer.
